Pitch Accent

Show each word's pitch accent — where the pitch drops when a native speaker says it. Two styles: Colors tints the whole word by its pattern (blue = flat 平板, red = drops after the 1st mora 頭高, orange = drops mid-word 中高, green = drops on the particle 尾高); Notation draws the standard overline with a tick where the pitch falls. While typing, each word gets a subtle underline in its pitch color. Word popups always show pitch (both styles plus the accent number) regardless of these toggles.

Word Hints

Show English meanings above difficult or unknown words while typing.

Auto-Furigana

Show readings above words you've encountered but haven't started learning yet.

Kanji Guide Dots

One dot per kana above each kanji shows where you are while typing — green typed, yellow current, red mistyped. "Always" also shows how many kana a word has before you type it; "While Typing" marks only the word you're on.

Soft key ticks, an error thunk, and a completion chime — synthesized and subtle. A community suggestion.

Autoplay Sentence Audio

Hear the sentence's audio automatically each time you complete it.

Data

Clears all typing reviews. Your saved and difficult words are kept — they'll re-enter SRS gradually through daily promotion. Useful if you have too many reviews and want to start fresh with a lower daily word count.

SuraSura Typing

A minimalist Japanese typing trainer. Learn kanji through real sentences, not flashcards.

How it works

1. Type the reading. A Japanese sentence appears on screen. Type its romaji reading and watch the characters light up as you go.
2. Learn new words. After completing a sentence, click any word to see its meaning. Save words you want to remember.
3. Adaptive difficulty. The system tracks your level and picks sentences that challenge you just enough. Easy sentences build confidence; harder ones stretch your vocabulary.
4. Spaced review. Words you hesitate on come back automatically at increasing intervals until you know them cold.
5. Track your progress. Sign in to save your stats, sync across devices, and watch your reading level grow over time.

Tips

• Don't worry about mistakes. The system cares more about hesitation than typos.
• If you're stuck on a word, wait a few seconds and a hint will appear.
• Use the report button if a sentence has a wrong reading or feels off.
